    According to Sports Illustrated’s Jon Heyman, catcher Jason Varitek has re-signed with the Boston Red Sox for one-year, $2 million. The deal was made official on December 10, in an announcement by the team, according to Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe. MLB Network’s Peter Gammons also contributed to the posting.
