The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed infielder Geoff Blum to a two-year contract, according to GM Kevin Towers (via a team press release). The Associated Press adds that the deal is for a total of $2.7 million ($1.35 million annually).

The Washington Nationals are looking to strengthen their bench, according to a baseball source close to MLB.com’s Bill Ladson. Among those that the Nationals are interested in, include Willie Bloomquist, Aaron Miles and Miguel Cairo.
Ladson later adds that Washington had interest in Geoff Blum, but he is supposedly close to signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Sources close to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports say the St. Louis Cardinals have interest in Houston Astros’ infield Geoff Blum, but nothing is serious at the moment.
