Here’s a running list of injury updates for several Major League players: – According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, left handed pitcher Dallas Braden has shoulder inflammation. There’s no structural damage in his shoulder. He’ll rest his shoulder and do some rehab to treat the inflammation. – Aaron Hill will undergo an MRI today [...]

    11. Arizona Diamondbacks: The Diamondbacks had, in my opinion, a very similar off season as the Marlins did. Their most significant moves were the signing of J.J. Putz and trading for Armando Galarraga.  They also brought a few veterans in to their roster with Xavier Nady, Melvin Mora, Willie Bloomquist, Mike Hampton, [...]

The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed infielder Geoff Blum to a two-year contract, according to GM Kevin Towers (via a team press release). The Associated Press adds that the deal is for a total of $2.7 million ($1.35 million annually). “The signing of Geoff Blum is the first step in identifying how we can improve Kirk [...]

The Washington Nationals are looking to strengthen their bench, according to a baseball source close to MLB.com’s Bill Ladson. Among those that the Nationals are interested in, include Willie Bloomquist, Aaron Miles and Miguel Cairo. Ladson later adds that Washington had interest in Geoff Blum, but he is supposedly close to signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

A source close to MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert says that the Diamondbacks are closing in on a deal with veteran free agent Geoff Blum. Blum’s deal could be a two-year according to NBCSport’s Drew Silva. That will be Arizona’s first step towards strengthening their bench says Gilbert. Blum hit .267 for the Astros last year, his 12th season [...]

The Houston Astros told reporters (via MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart) that they will not exercise infielder Geoff Blum’s option. GM Ed Wade confirmed that status on Blum’s option. Blum had a $1.65 million option for 2011, but he will be bought out for $150,000 instead. “I do know that I will not be here,” Blum said. “I’ll [...]

Many people in the know, close to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated, expect this year’s August 31st deadline to be the quietest in years. Most executives expect that only a few bullpen and bench pieces will get moved before tonight’s midnight deadline to have player on your roster eligible for post season player. “It’s not as [...]

Sources close to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports say the St. Louis Cardinals have interest in Houston Astros’ infield Geoff Blum, but nothing is serious at the moment. On the funnier side of baseball, Blum injured himself in early July while getting dressed. Tests conducted at a local hospital on the elbow showed “loose bodies.” The Cardinals [...]

Buster Olney of ESPN says that there is a perception among some general managers that the San Francisco Giants are trying to prevent third basemen from reaching the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves in the waiver process. Right now players need to clear waivers in order for teams to freely negotiate trade deals. Players such [...]

Buster Olney of ESPN has a couple of suggestions for teams that are in need of third base depth such as the St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves. Geoff Blum and Craig Counsell, according to Olney, have cleared waivers. The Astros and Brewers are free to negotiate a trade with any MLB team should [...]
