The New York Yankees have signed DH Russell Branyan to a minor league deal, Dan Martin of the New York Post reports. The deal includes an invite to Spring Training.

If Branyan makes the team, he would earn a base salary of $750k plus incentives.

The signing of Branyan, will not stop the Yankees from looking at other options at the DH spot such as Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui or Raul Ibanez.

After being signed by the Angels last May, he hit .185 with 12 hits in 65 at-bat while splitting time at 1st and DH.
